Diaper Rite Prefold Review

When we decided to cloth diaper, we didn't want to spend too much money because I really hate doing laundry. I hate it! So, there was a part of me that was screaming "Fail, fail, FAIL". But, I knew that if I skimped too much it would be impossible for me to succeed.
After a weeks worth of research, I decided to go with the Diaper Rite Prefolds. There were two main reasons why I chose these cloth diapers.

~ The price was right. Starting at $1.75 per diaper, there was no way I could argue that these wouldn't be cheaper than disposables.

~ The Diaper Rite Prefolds are sized. I wouldn't have to do any extra folding to make them fit my kids.

I ordered 24 green edged Diaper Rite Prefolds. According to the Diaper Rite Prefolds description page, the green edged prefolds would typically fit a baby between the ages of 5 to 18 months or that weighed between 14 and 30 lbs. At the time I placed my order, Colbie was 2 months old and Piper was 24 months old. But, Colbie weighed close to 13 pounds and Piper was barely registering at 23 lbs. I calculated that I would be able to diaper both girls in the same sized prefolds for at least a few months.
I could barely contain my excitement when my package was delivered to me. The shipment was fast, too, so I didn't have to drive myself crazy for too long cyber stalking the tracking link.

The Diaper Rite Prefolds were packaged into four separate packages of six. I opened them and laid all of the diapers out. I must say that if white cotton can be pretty, these were beautiful!

After prepping, my prefolds were smaller and quilted.  I now know why cloth diapers are so often referred to as "fluff"

The green edged did fit both of my girls. If I wanted, I could fold Colbie's diaper down a bit to have it fit lower on her torso. But, I didn't have to if I didn't want to.  I have to admit that I had a little trouble the first time I put Piper's diaper on.  It looked so odd!  But, I have since gotten the hang of it.

These prefolds are awesome.  They are super absorbent. They are soft.  It takes me no longer to change one of these prefolds than it did to change a disposable.  I have been using them on two kids for four months and they still look as good as the day I prepped them.  There are no stains and no signs of wear.  Just beautiful, white "fluff".  I honestly thought that there was no way the same cloth diaper could stand up to the challenge that an infant and a toddler bring, but these totally do!

If you are interested in cloth diapering, I suggest you head over to Diaper Junction and check out the Diaper Rite Prefolds.  We love them!

*Prefolds like these need to be used with a diaper cover

**I purchased this product for my own personal use.  I was not compensated in any way.

  1. I want to try them, but scared of the prepping involved. Can you tell me how you prepped yours? Theyre so fluffy and white!

  2. I would like to try these but wonder will they work ok with a 'fleece' cover like Stacinators?
